I've been a makeup artist for over 38 years. Having the privilege of working for companies like Estee Lauder and Yves Saint Laurent as a National Makeup Artist allowed me to travel from coast to coast on a weekly basis, being an ambassador for the companies. Working with women of all ethnicities and age groups, with every eye shape, skin tone and beauty challenge was exciting. Each woman had a unique look which I learned to showcase, creating a natural, youthful look they wou...ld be comfortable to do for themselves. I’ve learned many makeup tips throughout my career and I always enjoy sharing them with my clients. The technique I am sharing with you today about concealer is one of my favorites. It creates a finished look that is not heavy or aging, but natural and easy to do. I hope you'll give it a try! A note on applying concealer One of the tips that surprises everyone the most is to apply concealer AFTER applying foundation. I know--it seems counter-intuitive, but here are a few great reasons to try this effective technique: A good foundation will offer a light level of concealing, which may be all you need on a minimal makeup day. Applying concealer after foundation allows you to customize the level of coverage which is especially effective for dark under-eye circles. Applying a highlighting or light-reflecting concealer after foundation will reflect more light and diminish shadows more effectively. Eye shadow often falls to the undereye area during application, blends into the foundation and causes the appearance of dark circles. Applying concealer after foundation allows you to clean up the fallout from the undereye area and then apply a layer of concealer, leaving a fresh, clean look that wears well throughout the day. Dual Action Concealer is one of my favorites to use for this technique. It reduces puffiness while minimizing dark circles. You can click on the photo below to order.
