How do plants purify our air? Let's look back at science class: During photosynthesis, plants convert the carbon dioxide we exhale into fresh oxygen and remove toxins from the air we breathe. NASA tested this theory in a landmark 1989 study when they examined how popular houseplants diffuse many toxic chemicals including the following: Formaldehyde, which can cause irritation to nose, mouth, and throats.... Benzane, which can cause irritation to eyes, drowsiness, dizziness, increase in heart rate, headaches, and confusion. Trichlorothylene, which can cause dizziness, headache, nausea, and vomiting. In that study, they found several, no-fuss plants that actually filter out the bad stuff and easily grow indoors. How many plants do you need to purify a room? The more plants, the better. To reap the benefits, have at least two plants per 100 square feet. Keep in mind that plants with larger leaves think: palms purify air quicker. Bill Wolverton, the man behind the NASA study, also recommends fern and ivy plants because they take up the most surface area.

The Witch’s House history.: The house was built for Willat Studios back in 1920 as a set for a few silent films, including Hansel and Gretel, and a studio office. It was not built to be lived in. Nobody’s certain when exactly it was moved to Beverly Hills. I am desperately searching for photographic evidence of the house being moved on a truck. You can imagine what a big deal that must have been back in the 1920s. I’ve seen building permits from 1924, so that helps narrow th...e date down, but back in the 1920s, Ward Lascelle, one of the producers who worked with the Willats, bought the structure because the studio was planning on demolishing it. He had owned this lot at the time, so he moved the house here to Beverly Hills and turned it into a functioning home. It was really small at the time. There was only the entry foyer, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a tiny kitchen. I would love to know what he was thinking back then. Some websites and historians refer to this house as the Spadena House. Let me explain why: Ward Lascelle’s wife, Lillian, divorced Ward, kept the house, and then married the house boy/guest/man servant, whose last name was Spadena. Lillian took over the house’s legacy and eventually sold it to the Green family in 1965. I purchased it from Mrs. Green in 1998, so I am truly now the keeper of The Witch. Want to read more? Vanessa Bryant sells Irvine home she owned with Kobe for $2 million That was fast. Less than a week after listing an Irvine investment home, Vanessa Bryant has sold it for $2 million or $5,000 over the asking price. Bryant, wife of late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, listed the home Wednesday for $1.995 million, and a deal for the property was under contract by Friday. Records show she and Kobe bought the place in 2013.... Built in 2003, the Tuscan-style spot is found in the Summit at Turtle Ridge, a gated community a few miles from Bryant's main estate in Newport Coast. A clay tile roof tops the brick-and-stucco exterior, and lush landscaping leads to the front door. Inside, three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms are spread across 2,300 square feet. Dramatic beams dominate a living room with a fireplace, and the adjacent kitchen draws the eye with splashes of Spanish tile and a large limestone island with a farmhouse sink. Arched doorways navigate the single-story floor plan, and out back, French doors open to a secluded brick patio with a fireplace and in-ground spa. A pair of ivy-topped garages complete the cul-de-sac property. Jordan Cohen of RE/MAX One held the listing. JoJo Romeo of Pacific Sotheby's International Realty represented the buyer.
