Tehama County Young Marines 01.01.2021

Good evening all; Just reminding everyone we are coming out of the fog, so we are still on for the parent and AV meeting tomorrow. The meeting will be at the DRC at 0900 and we will be following the social distancing guidelines for everyone's safety. If you are or could be sick, please do not attend, however drop me a line so I know in advance. I know it has been awhile but for clarity this is not a drill, it is a meeting. Young Marines are not required and if they attend... will be asked to wait outside while we address the future needs of the unit. Thanks again and looking forward to seeing you all there. Mr. Kain

Okay I hate to do it but due to covid and partially because of my most recent work schedule, I need to reschedule the mandatory meeting again. The new date will be May 16th 0900 at the DRC. Sorry for the late notice and any inconvenience. Thanks Dave Kain

Good afternoon all; I hope your all doing well and more importantly being safe. I have been trying to schedule a mandatory meeting to get some of the administrative issues resolved to move forward in our unit. That meeting was scheduled for April 25th at 0900 hours; however due to the covid 19 virus and for the safety of all of our staff and parents I am going to change the date again to May 9th at 0900 hours. For now we will plan on having this meeting at the DRC. If tha...t changes I will let you know. Mr. Hartman is working with some other units in an effort to do some online DDR or DDR via zoom. So keep your eyes on the facebook page for updates. Thanks again Dave Kain

Good afternoon all; With the Covid 19 concerns and limitations I am moving our mandatory meeting to April 25th at 0900 hours. No drill activities will take place until the mandatory meeting. Again my intention is to take a leave of absence to attend college as my college classes is already taking a lions share of my free time. To keep things moving forward with our unit I am asking for parents to pursue being an adult volunteer to assist Mr. Hartman and Mrs. Hartman in my ab...sence. Thank you Unit Commander Dave Kain

Good evening all; As you all are aware I have been talking about going back to college and the impact that endeavor will take on my personal life. I have been in discussions with Mr. Hartman regarding the future of our program. There have been some discussions of changing the hours of drill and reducing from two drills a month to one in an effort to assist in making the program work under the current adult staffing and young marines extra-curricular activities. The reality... is that won’t be enough by itself. The program needs additional adult volunteers to allow me the time I need to take away from the program and Mr. Hartman additional staff to make sure we are properly supervising all Young Marine events. I want to ensure you we are looking for more adult volunteers to spread out the work and not pile on a few new volunteers. Mr. Hartman, Ms. Hartman and I have been carrying the load for quite awhile and we need help for things to continue the way they are. With that said I think the best way to shape the future of the program is to schedule a parent meeting on March 28th, 2020 at 0900 hours at the DRC. This will allow all parents and volunteers to share ideas and give input on how to move forward. I have received an impressive vote of confidence to stay on as the Unit Commander and desire to do so, however we are all going to need to work together to take on segments of the program so I can pursue my education away from the program. Please I cannot express enough how important that all parents, and volunteers attend this meeting. Mr. Hartman and I have decided to suspend drill for March until which time we can figure out the direction we are planning to head in. I appreciate your understanding and support !!! Unit Commander Dave Kain
