City School Roots and Shoots

Another successful International Coastal Cleanup Day, or CoastSweep2019! Thanks Heal the Bay!

Hi All, Make no mistake, we have been busy despite my lack of updates. Today I am lucky enough to be braving the weather and attending the California We Youth Leadership Conference with 7 middle schoolers spanning grades 6-8. I am so proud of the kids for giving up their time to build their leadership and service learning skills so they can continue to build on some of the great things The City School has done and look forward to the great service projects in our future.

Roots and Shoots was in mid season form today and on point for our hero, Jane Goodall. The kids have been working hard figuring out what it means to move into a new community responsibly, and today they were rewarded unconditionally. Roots and Shoots groups from around LA were able to present their projects to Dr. Jane, and that was followed by a pretty great march, a good ole hippie hangout fest, and a poignant speech about what it really means to be human. Thanks Dr. Jane Goodall and Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots Program for such a special, inspiring and affirming day!

Proud to see such a commitment among our young people. City School Roots and Shoots students are representing at Tree People Park on a SATURDAY for a Water Wise Workshop and making big plans for their great futures! TreePeople
