Can you smell the jelly donuts? Chanukah is in the air and almost here... This THURSDAY, December 10th at 6:30pm... FIRST NIGHT OF CHANUKAH LIVE IN PERSON COMMUNITY CANDLE LIGHTING AT TEMPLE BETH EL! Please join us (really join us!) for our annual community wide candle lighting. This will be an outdoor, socially distanced in-person event, so dress warmly AND WEAR A MASK! Brotherhood Brunches are Back! (virtually that is!) THIS SUNDAY, December 6th (10:30 kibitzing; 11:00 presentation) All TBE Invited Speaker: Professor and TBE member Dr. Michael Stone... Title: The UCSC Molecular Diagnostic Lab: a Covid Testing Resource for the Santa Cruz Community As we've learned in this terrible coronavirus pandemic, testing is key. It's only with the availability of rapid tests that we will be able to move forward with diagnosis and contact tracing. Fortunately for our community, UC Santa Cruz researchers stepped up and developed our own local testing laboratory. Known as the Molecular Diagnostic Lab, this facility applied the most sophisticated approaches for detecting active coronavirus infection. At the head of this lab is Professor Michael Stone, TBE member and expert in RNA research. Please join our next Brotherhood Zoom Brunch to hear directly from Michael how he and his colleagues (Professors Olena Vaske, Jeremy Sanford, and Isabel Bjork) responded to this dire need, and what the future holds for testing/tracing in our community. Zoom session will begin at 10:30 with Brotherhood kibitzing and business, with Michael's talk starting at 11:00. All TBE members are welcome.
