The Corona virus is impacting all of us with the shelter in place, social spacing, and isolation initiatives. All of these are to prevent the spread of Covid19 to others. Since the 2019 filing season is changed to 7-15-2020, allowing you time to conduct other more pressing matters, there is no need to pressure yourself to meet the usual April 15 deadline. I am still preparing returns but with respect to your space and other safety issues. Instead of us meeting face to fa...ce and discussing tax data used to prepare your returns, I will still visit wherever you usually choose, but, only to secure tax preparation data, payment for services, return your source documents and secure forms that requires your signature. If there is a need for discussion, we will use the telephone, or other social media platforms that are convenient and secure that you desire. This strategy has been working fine so far without any adverse impact on the fast and efficient service provided to you in the past. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call. Stay safe, SIP, and maintain social spacing. Wishing you safety and the best of health. THIS WILL PASS. Sincerely, Fletcher Haley Sr Enrolled Agent

The filing season is here. Are you ready? IRS is now accepting prepared returns for the 2018 filing season. However, do not be too hasty. Providers of sourc...e documents used to enter data for preparation of returns generally do not have a legal requirement to provide individual income tax source documents e.g. Form W-2 until January 31. Most return preparers allow for mailing and receipt to February 15 before preparation starts. Unless you are sure you have all required forms, I recommend waiting due to additional fee for preparing an amended tax return if necessary. BRIEF SUMMARY OF 2018 CHANGES SUBJECT & 2018 CHANGES: *Standard mileage rates - Charity .14 cent per mile Medical .18 cent per mile; *Standard deduction - Married filing joint, surviving spouses $24,000, Single & married filing separate $12,000, Head of household $18,000; *Personal exemption - Suspended beginning 2018; *Medical expense deduction threshhold - 7.5% of AGI 2017 and 2018. TAX PREPARATION & REPRESENTATION/NOTARY PUBLIC TPR TAX TIPS DECEMBER 2015... Happy holidays! I hope 2015 has been a prosperous and healthy one with all of your desires fulfilled. The following end of year tax tips hopefully will assist you in meeting a successful filing season that is arriving shortly. AFFORDABLE CARE ACT On March 23, 2010 President Obama signed into law the Affordable Care Act also known as Obama Care. The ACA requires that all uninsured Americans who can afford to, must maintain Minimum Essential Coverage of health insurance. Some may be exempt from the coverage requirement who meet certain income criteria. Otherwise, in accordance with the act’s tax provisions, an Individual Shared Responsibility payment will be required. Again, if you meet certain income requirements a Premium Tax Credit may be available to you. Refer to www.healthcare.gov for more information regarding health insurance carrier choices. GIFTS TO CHARITY In order for gifts to be deductible you must file a form Schedule A and the donation must be to a qualified charitable organization that meets federal statutes. Be prepared to support your deduction of especially cash, by keeping a detailed record, in the event of an IRS review of your tax return. Deduct contributions only in the year you make them. For non-cash contributions of more than $500, additional documentation, e.g. an appraisal may be required. INSUFFICIENT WITHHOLDING If your income tax deduction from wages, or self-employment is short of what you believe your tax obligation for the year may be, you have until January 15, 2016 to make an Estimated Tax payment. If I may assist you in meeting your tax filing and representation needs, please do not hesitate to contact me. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
