Here in the north of England in the Lake District we don't get astronomical night time during the months of May, June, July and early August. So shooting the milky way especially the core can be tricky. Me and a fellow Photographer hiked up a near by mountain called Raven Crag, to shoot the Core rising up the valley. We had a two hour window in which the sun would be at its lowest so made the most of that time. To say it never got truly dark I was astonished at how much detail I could see if the core.
