Montclair Man Charged with Attempted Murder LOCATION: 900 Blk. of E. 6th. St. Pomona, Ca. CRIME: 664/187 PC Attempted Murder... VICTIM: Male adult, 26 Years of Age, Ontario, Ca Resident SUSPECT: JAVIER PEREZ, 33 Years of Age, Montclair, Ca Resident UNIT: Major Crimes Unit, Investigative Services Division INICIDENT #: 20-122595 NARRATIVE: On October 31, 2020 at approximately 2:55am, Patrol Officers from the Pomona Police Department responded to a residence in the 900 blk. of E. 6th. St. Pomona, Ca. in reference to a victim of a stabbing. Upon arrival, Officers located the victim suffering from stab wounds to his torso. The victim was immediately rushed to a local hospital in critical condition where he went in for life-saving surgery. Homicide Detectives from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit were assigned to the investigation due to the serious nature of the injuries. On November 4, 2020, Detectives were able to identify and locate the suspect who was known to the victim. Detectives took the suspect into custody in the City of Montclair. On November 6, 2020, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office filed Attempted Murder charges on JAVIER PEREZ. The motive for the stabbing is believed to be a dispute over an acquaintance. Detectives Investigating a Homicide Incident... DATE / TIME: Saturday October 31, 2020 7:00PM LOCATION: 574 E. Phillips Blvd. Pomona, CA. CRIME: 187 PC Homicide VICTIM: Male adult, 33 years of age, Pomona Resident (Name withheld pending notification) SUSPECTS: Unknown UNIT: Investigative Services Division INCIDENT #: 20-122814 NARRATIVE: On 10/31/2020 at approximately 7:00 PM, Patrol Officers responded to a call of a victim of a shooting at 574 E. Phillips Blvd. Upon arrival they discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics arrived and treated the victim at the scene but he succumbed to his injuries. Homicide investigators from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and began an extensive investigation. The motive for the crime is not yet known. Seatbelt Violation Leads To Arrest For Gun Possession DATE: Monday, October 19, 2020 TIME: 6:23 PM... LOCATION: Philadelphia St. and Reservoir St., Pomona, CA CRIME/CHARGES: 25400 (a) PC Concealed Firearm within Vehicle 25400 (c)(3) PC Gang Member in Possession of a Firearm SUSPECT: RODRIGUEZ, RANDY 44 year old, Crowley, Texas resident NARRATIVE: On Monday, October 19, 2020; Officers from Pomona Police Department's, Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) were in the area of Philadelphia St. and Reservoir St. when the saw a seatbelt violation with the driver of a compact vehicle. After Officers made contact with the driver who was identified as, RANDY PEE-WEE RODRIGUEZ he was found to be in possession of a methamphetamine pipe. As Officers continued to investigate, RODRIGUEZ admitted to having a firearm inside of his car. RODRIGUEZ was arrested for possessing the weapon. RODRIGUEZ was found to be a gang member from a neighboring city. RODRIGUEZ was booked into the Pomona city jail pending his arraignment. LOCATION: 2900 block of Battram St., Pomona, CA CRIME/CHARGES: 148 PC Resisting Arrest 69 PC Resisting Arrest Using Force Against Officers 21310 PC Carrying a Concealed Dirk or Dagger 647 (f) PC Public Intoxication Warrant NO BAIL Warrant Weapons Violation SUSPECT: CASTRO, ERNIE 29 year old, Highland resident NARRATIVE: On Tuesday, October 20, 2020; Officers from Pomona Police Department's, Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) were conducting crime deterrent patrols in areas within the city known to have recent gang activity. While in the area of Willie White Park, Officers attempted to stop a suspicious pedestrian who was later identified as, ERNIE CASTRO. During the contact, CASTRO made a quick movement to conceal his hand and then suddenly ran. Officers gave chase and caught suspect CASTRO. CASTRO threw an object consistent with the shape of a firearm and then engaged in a physical altercation with the police. Once detained, he was found to be in possession of a dagger and a machete. The item that he threw was discovered to be a replica firearm. CASTRO was found to be wanted and was listed as an armed and dangerous person. He was taken into-custody and booked at the Pomona Police Department pending his arraignment for the listed charges.
