Regional Stay Home Order Announced by Governor Newsom The Regional Stay Home Order, announced December 3, 2020, will go into effect within 48 hours in regions with less than 15% ICU availability. Nevada County is part of the Greater Sacramento Region and has not reached this threshold at this time. The Regional Stay Home Order will prohibit private gatherings of any size, closes sector operations except for critical infrastructure and retail, and requires 100% masking and ph...ysical distancing in all others. Most notably, bars, personal care, and salon/barbershops will close. Retail will be reduced to 20% capacity, restaurants will operate with take-out, pick-up and delivery only, and hotels and lodging will be limited to critical infrastructure support only. The order will remain in effect for at least 3 weeks and, after that period, will be lifted when a region’s projected ICU capacity meets or exceeds 15%. This will be assessed on a weekly basis after the initial 3-week period. Nevada County plans to send out a Code RED Emergency Alert to residents and visitors if Nevada County does move into a Stay-at-Home Order due to regional hospital capacity. The Town of Truckee will also send this information out via Nixle, as well as our media platforms. If you’ve tested positive or are a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, there are important steps you can take to help limit the spread further into our community. As of Monday, August 31, RESTAURANTS in Nevada County are now allowed to open for INDOOR dining at 25% capacity or 100 people (whichever is less), with safety modifications in place. Every county is assigned to a tier based on its rate of new cases and positivity. At a minimum, counties must remain in a tier for at least 3 weeks before moving forward. Data is reviewed weekly and tiers are updated on Tuesdays. To move forward, a county must meet the next tier’s criteria for two consecutive weeks. Then, 21 more days must pass before a County can move into the next tier. If a county’s metrics worsen for two consecutive weeks, it will be assigned a more restrictive tier.

Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday ordered all Californians to wear face coverings while in public or high-risk settings, including when shopping, taking public transit or seeking medical care, after growing concerns that an increase in coronavirus cases has been caused by residents failing to voluntarily take that precaution. Under state law, residents who violate the new requirement could be charged with a misdemeanor and potentially face a financial penalty, according to a representative for the Newsom administration.

PLACER COUNTY OPEN FOR LEISURE TRAVEL JUNE 12 "To Lodging Managers and Owners (Including hotels, motels, timeshares and short-term rentals), Under current state guidance, and in addition to existing allowed uses, hotels and lodging businesses may reopen for tourism and leisure this Friday, June 12th. This move to Stage 3 allows all lodging businesses to fully reopen provided they have a safety plan developed and implemented at the time of reopening. ... Thank you for your efforts over the past several months to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 which has directly resulted in the ability to reopen Placer County lodging businesses."

CA Hotel & Lodging Association: "Today, the California Department of Public Health released new guidance for the lodging industry stating that individual/leisure travel can start next Friday on June 12, if your county allows it. With the announcement, the CDPH and Cal/OSHA revised the COVID-19 Hotel and Lodging Industry Guidance. Nevada County has again updated their Short Term Rental Order to clarify that short-term lodging facilities may be rented for ONLY: Stage 2 business travel. Essential service workers.... Isolated housing for COVID-impacted persons. The revised Order also defines short-term lodging to include: campgrounds, RV parks, hotels, motels, rented homes and condos. It is important to point out that the Town of Truckee does not regulate the COVID restrictions on hotels and STR’s. The restrictions that are in place are controlled by the State and Nevada County. There has been clear guidance from the County that states the Nevada County Short Term Rental Order still stands. Here is how we have interpreted all the information we have received: There should be no travel or stays for recreational purposes at hotels or STR’s...
