It's Computer Science Education Week, which means it's time to celebrate the Hour of Code! The Hour of Code is designed to help kids of all ages learn the basics of coding, and introduce an interest in computer science. Many Hour of Code activities are self-guided, which means you can do this at home with your child. (And, you don't have to be in the computer science field!) Limited access to technology? No problem! There are activities available that don't require technolog...y. Here's how to get started: 1 Try out tutorials 2 Pick the tutorial you want to introduce your child to 3 Choose an hour Code.org takes care of the rest! There are options for every age and experience-level, from kindergarten and up. Click the link to learn more and get coding!
Meet Vivian A., one of the recipients of the Wescom Credit Union scholarship, which is a scholarship for college-bound juniors and seniors in California. Vivian says, "My top college choice is the University of California, San Diego. My college dream is to experience college life and to expand my knowledge. I can't wait to study in the major of Cognitive & Behavioral Neuroscience. I'm most excited to learn about how the brain functions within the human body." Sylvan Learning of West Covina is looking forward to helping her on her college journey! #WescomKindness

(Students, parents and counselors welcome!) Unlike traditional college fairs, where students meet with admissions officers, the Student Panel College Fair gives participants the chance to hear directly from current students who attend the schools they're interested in. Don't miss this opportunity to ask questions and hear REAL perspectives from actual college/university students!
