Ready for 2021 and whatever it brings! One more work day for us and we will be ringing in the new year. . This was a basic bonding repair done today of two fractured front teeth. It never gets old to treat these cases and they are rewarding to do, but take a lot of concentration and thought. We consider the unique challenges for each case. Like mental sudoku...Restoring harmony, balance and order. Lots of components to consider: blending edges, choosing shades and ...mimicking nature’s contours; also evaluating a person’s overall bite and thinking about how a restoration has to live and function day-to-day. There are all the forces involved (chewing, parafunctional grinding/clenching and what led to the area breaking in the first place ). Nightguards are key for providing long-term stability (also please no opening bottles, biting on nails, don’t try to superglue your own tooth, etc). There is no guarantee the tooth won’t chip again, but we try to reduce the odds and increase success rates. Sometimes veneers (or crowns) are necessary in order to provide a strong/larger bonding surface for optimal longevity. It all depends. All the feels when we get such a touching note from a patient! This lovely lady used to live nearby but then relocated to the central coast.
