A big workday weekend got several projects completed. First we completed another 10’ on the snowshed. The track crew has also been working on the track coming off the Y track by the bays. That portion is done. Now on to the next project. We also had several members organizing the storage containers. Everything has a place now. Also Gordon and Keith got preemigrant sprayed on the mainline and yard tracks. Finally my annual call to the Sheriff Work Project paid off big time with a group of 40 working 4 hours raking leaves. They got almost everything picked up. Looks so nice right before the rain starts this week.
Northern California is enjoying some beautiful weather this weekend! A number of our members took advantage of the warm temperatures to enjoy a day in the park to make progress on a number of projects.
Videos of the Pacific in action
The club acquired a Pacific Steam Engine about a year ago. Needless to say it needed some changes to make it a public pulling steam engine. I gave to the capable hands of Brandon. He spent many hours and weekends making changes and today several of us got to put it through it paces. Thanks for all your efforts Brandon! It looks and runs great!
What a great way to kick off the New Year. By my count we had 6 steam engines and 6 diesel trains running. Plus the G gauge Table was busy all day too. Here’s a 7 minute video of today’s action
Merry Christmas from Hallmark pop up cards
We got three days of Santa Train in this year. Thank you for your continued support through the year and adjusting to the covid rules put in place this year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years.
Santa Train is running to 3pm today. Come out for the final run of the year. Sunday looks like we may cancel due to rain. Stay tuned
Thank you to everyone that came out to support our Santa Train this past weekend. Despite all the COVID restrictions put in place, everyone really enjoyed themselves. Our volunteers worked hard to decorate and help make this happen. We have one more weekend ahead of us. See you Dec 12+13 from 11-3pm
Good news! We are working on plans to have our Santa Train this year. Of course it will be much different than our normal Santa Train Event. But stay tuned for news on Santa coming to the Railroad

Join us for this rare opportunity as we run a second weekend. Normally we just run the first weekend of the month. This month we are running for the second weekend too. We run from 11-3pm Oct 10+11 in a Hagan Community Park. Weather looks amazing and track is decorated in Fall decor. Tell all your train loving friends!
Beautiful day finally. Come ride the trains with us today from 11-3pm at Hagan Community Park
Come join us today for our public runs. Our guests are waiting to see you! We run from 11-3pm Oct 3+4 and 10+11 at Hagan Community Park in Rancho Cordova
Due to the uncertainties this year we were unable to order pumpkins earlier this year. So instead of our pumpkin train we are decorating the track with Fall theme decor. Enjoy a train ride as you check out new scenery. Also we have extended to next weekend too. That’s right we are running the first two weekends. Join us on October 5+6 and 10+11 from 11-3pm. No special pricing, we just suggest a $2 donation per rider. Thanks for your support this year and tell your train loving friends where we are!
In preparation of our Fall Meet I went out to club today to freshen up the station. Stained all the windows, trim and deck.
This is the time of year we start gearing up for our two fundraisers for the year. With all the uncertainties of 2020 and the amount of planning that goes into these two events, the board decided to cancel our traditional Pumpkin and Santa Train events. With that being said we still plan to run on those weekends. However there will be no pumpkins this year and no pictures with Santa. Now the good news is we will run the first two weekends in October and December. Oct. 3+...4 and 10+11 from 11-3pm we are calling it the Harvest Express. This is a train ride thru our area with Fall theme decor. No special fee. We still ask for a suggested donation of $2 per rider. Our Holiday Train will run December 5+6 and 12+13 from 11-3pm. Same thing as above with Holiday theme decor thru the ride. No special fee just the standard donation request We are sadden to cancel these two traditional events as I know many come each year to get their pictures taken with Santa. We will continue to provide train rides and appreciate the community support throughout this year.
Wilson, Koko and Brewster, the stars of Chuggington, are celebrating Rail Safety Week in "Traintastic" fashion!
Taking a moment today to pause and remember the loss the Rancho Cordova PD and the Rancho Cordova Community experienced two years ago. Thank you for your service to our community.
Join us this weekend Sept 5+6 from 11-3pm for our public train rides. Kona Ice will be out in support of us for both days too. #konaiceofcarmichael #svlsrm #trainrides #hagancommunitypark #labordayweekend
The yard tracks coming off the steaming bays all needed attention. This yard was done 20 years ago, so most of the ties were just for show now. We replaced the inbound and outbound tracks off the transfer table with Accuties. Next up is the track coming off the Y of the turntable lead. Oh the joys of working on the railroad. Always something. Thankfully we have members that jump in and help get the job done.
Thanks for everyone that came out in support of us Saturday. Kona Ice hit the spot too. Come on out today. We will be here from 11-3pm. You can also support us by clicking the donate button below. Thanks
This pass week a long time member of 40+ year, Ross Crawford passed away at the age of 91. Ross hasn’t been able to be around the club lately but when he was there you would always find a smile of his face. He always had creative ideas of things we could do. We used his engine for Santa Trains pictures since the beginning of the event until the last few years. You could often find him helping with our various events. Ross will be missed. May we all live a long and fruitful live that Ross enjoyed.
Trains and Kona Ice! Share the news! This weekend from 11-3pm. Kona Ice will be out in support of our public runs. We follow safety guidelines for continued public operations. We clean the equipment between each run and ask for one family per car. We also have gondola cars separating the riding cars. We look forward to seeing you this weekend in support of our public runs. Thank You! See you August 1+2
