Our friend Ken Newman is at it again! Ken’s organization, Blanket The Homeless, a fantastic SVDP-SF partner, creates personal care kits for our clients experiencing homelessness with all kinds of essentials. Thanks so much to Ken and the wonderful folks that helped to put together these care kits today! We appreciate it so much!

We're grateful to share another beautiful photo that was sent in to honor Domestic Violence Awareness month by Myles Cowherd At SVDP-SF's the Riley Center, we have seen an uptick by 30% in our crisis line calls. For those impacted by domestic abuse, sheltering in place can mean frightening conditions at home. We're proud of the work we to do support survivors of Domestic Violence. Share a photo below of a candle you have lit in honor of Domestic Violence! #DVAwarenessMonth #svdpsf #rileycenter #enddomesticviolence #DVAM #seetheunseen #healing #wellbeing #dignity #respect #compassion #care #lightacandle #survivors

Throughout the month of October SVDP-SF will be highlighting photographs on our social media platforms using a single candle in the window as a symbol of solidarity for anyone who has suffered at the hands of domestic violence. We're sending out a call to all SVDP-SF supports to join in the efforts by sharing a picture of your own candle in support of survivors! Thanks to Mark Lachman for the beautiful photo! Post a photo on your FB page tagging us (@SVDP.SF) and using the hashtag #DVAwarenessMonth or share your photo in the comments here throughout the month of October and we'll reshare on our page! We really appreciate your support.

We are THRILLED to launch our first short-film since COVID-19 became apparent back in March. Please give this touching video created by filmmaker Gregiore Thiry a watch. The film highlights the incredible resilience of our staff and the trials and perseverance our clients have navigated on top of many different environmental, social and health impacts. We are so thankful to have such tremendous people to work with and support. At SVDP-SF, we've been in crisis response for a l...ong time. COVID-19 is no different. The health crisis has changed the way we operate but not what we doprovide people a dignified place to sleep, eat and get the resources they need. If you are in a position to support our work, we welcome your donations and your partnership. Thank you! #SeeTheUnseen #COVID19 #pandemic #support #homelessness #homelessnessawareness #domesticviolenceawareness #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth #giveback #nonprofit #nonprofitorganization #svdpsf #rileycenter #compassion #dignity #housing #HousingIsAHumanRight #health #wellness #wellbeing

This Friday, October 9th, SVDP-SF will be launching our first video highlighting the deep commitment of our staff since Covid-19 has hit, and the impact this pandemic has had on our programs, and most importantly our clients. Those experiencing homelessness and domestic violence are disproportionately impacted by Covid-19. At SVDP-SF, it is our mission to make sure our clients get the help they need and deserve with dignity and respect. Join us in making sure these life saving resources are at the ready for all in need and keep an eye out for our short film!

We're grateful to see that the millions of dollars associated with Prop C have been freed up, creating more access around the provision of services such as housing and mental health treatment, for which our City so desperately needs. Here's to creating lasting change in the field of social services for all in need! <3

We're feeling tremendous gratitude towards the San Francisco Public Library and their Mobile Outreach & Community Redistribution Manager, Suzanne! The San Francisco Public Library generously donated a tremendous collection of books to our MSC-South Shelter in an effort to help us replenish the shelves of our in-house library today! Our clients are excited to say the least, and SVDP-SF is overjoyed to offer such an array of books to our clients. We'd also like to mention that beyond helping our clients, Suzanne and her team work diligently to provide an array of reading materials to those residing in local jails and prisons. Thank you for providing the gift of knowledge and reading more equitably to our communities! <3

Well said Mary Kate Bacalao. Thanks for your editorial: "The real headline (and tragedy) here is that San Francisco is not paying a fair wage to the lowest-paid janitors, desk clerks, case managers, and shelter counselors running our homeless response system."

We are so grateful to receive such a generous donation of 230 handmade masks from Smuin Contemporary Ballet this morning at our MSC Homeless Shelter! To see footage from today’s events, tune in to the 5 o'clock news on ABC7 where our Shelter and dancers from Smuin Contemporary Ballet were filmed as they delivered this wonderful donation. It is so touching to see the dedication brought forth by the dancers of Smuin Contemporary Ballet, who made face masks from leftover costume materials, by hand, to help fight the spread of Covid-19. At SVDP-SF we are deeply touched by the continued dedication our community provides in assisting our clients. Receiving a heartfelt donation like this is hugely helpful in lifting our clients’ spirits and keeping them safe. From all of us at SVDP-SF, thank you Smuin Ballet!
