Tales from the Field: Officer Gonzalez responded to a call from a concerned resident in Santa Clara who kept hearing a kitten crying under his car. He had driven to Target the evening before, where he observed a small black kitten in the parking lot. When he attempted to approach the kitten, it ran away into some bushes. He went about his shopping and returned home. Once again, he could hear a kitten crying but did not see it. However, his security camera told a different st...ory-- it showed the kitten coming out from under the car and into the bushes in front of his house! He then watched as the kitten disappeared again under the car. When Officer Gonzalez arrived, she opened and inspected under the hood of the car. No kitty there. Suddenly, she heard a cry from the adjacent bushes. After several attempts she was able to safely capture the poor, frightened feline. She transported her back to the Animal Care Center, where she was examined and found to be in pretty good shape considering her ordeal! Nova, as the staff named her, is still under observation but doing well and gaining weight.
