Tires are still a large source of waste in the U.S. and we are continually working to find safe and creative ways to recycle them into useful products. See below for an opportunity to share your new idea for recycling tires!

Tire disposal is a filthy business, but manufacturers are investing in technologies to produce more sustainable tires. We work to divert tires from landfills by recycling them into useful surfaces such as playgrounds, trails, and pavements, giving them a second life and diverting them from landfills.

Just weeks before Hurricane Harvey hit, a mile-long Rubberway jogging trail was installed at the iconic Houstonian Hotel. As Houston began its long recovery process, we received news that this rubber trail withstood the test of being submerged in floodwaters for over a week following the Hurricane. This Rubberway trail system was specifically designed to stand up to flooding and we are happy to see that it did so even in the most extreme circumstances. We continue to wish Houston and all other regions affected by Hurricane Harvey the best in their recovery.

The importance of nature in the urban environment is becoming recognized more and more. We seek to support this with porous, flexible, sustainable surfaces such as rubber sidewalks and tree wells that create a healthy environment for urban trees.

Protecting urban trees and planting more of them are key to reducing the urban "heat island" effect and to beautifying our cities. We are proud to do our part by offering innovative porous, flexible sidewalks and tree wells that help urban trees thrive while reducing sidewalk cracking and associated hazards.

Rubberway is very pleased with the feedback and poll results for the Virginia Tech Drill Field Path. Virginia Tech took the poll to Twitter and through a portal on their website to gather votes and opinions from the community as to which surface is most desirable for the highly used drill field. We provided a couple variations of our rubber sidewalk materials, which included Pervious Pavement Rubber Rock (#8,9) and an all rubber Pervious Pavement option (#13). ... The popular choice for the major path was the Pervious Pavement Rubber Rock, without a concrete window (#9) But the true winner for the minor path was the Pervious Pavement (#13) by a landslide! Thank you to all who participated. Your acceptance is what keeps us "paving the way" towards a more sustainable environment. We look forward to the second poll set for February! https://www.vt.edu/drillfield-paths/poll-results.html
