Its been a solo kind of week here at Sunshine Flyers! Our very own Kelsey Dashiell has soloed the mighty 152 for the first time yesterday!! We could not be more proud of this incredibly bright individual and here is to many more solo trips on the way to getting your licenses. Also, thank you to CFI Kelly Richards and CFI Camile Tricomo for the help so far on this journey. What a week!

Another day, another solo! Congratulations to Gavin Stroup for his first solo yesterday in N1141M and thank you to CFII Randy Leys. Just as the sun was beginning to set, Randy removed himself from the plane and allowed Gavin to go do his three takeoffs and landings for the first time all by himself. What a way to end the day and begin a new phase in his training. Way to go Gavin!

We have another student flying solo in the sky!! Rob Miller soloed yesterday in N24261 with CFII Randy Leys (our triple "eh" president). With coffee in one hand and shirt tail in the other, Rob is on his way to the next phase in his private pilot adventure

We've got another CFI at Auburn airport! Congratulations to Mike Polit for passing his CFI checkride with DPE Richard Conte and thank you to CFI Mike Duncan and CFI Peter Hastert. With a plentiful amount of crop dusting experience, Mike is looking forward to a new perspective in the CItabria and imparting his plethora of stick and rudder skills

Attention Auburn airport, we have a Auburn Aviation Association Vice President with a new single engine commercial add-on on the loose! Congratulations to Doug Mcdougall for passing his checkride today with DPE Richard Conte and thank you to CFII Randy Leys for helping him prepare. Keep doing amazing things McDougs!

A belated congratulations to Matthew Gandler for completing his first solo flight on December 17th! What an accomplishment and a huge thank you to CFII Randall Leys. We feel lucky to be a part of great pilot's journeys and can't we can't wait to be part of the next phase in this young pilots adventure

One of the first steps in getting your pilots license is finding a great ground school. It helps with your knowledge for the practical as well as the written exam and you get to ask all of your aviation questions to the instructor that is right in front of you. Sunshine's ground school begins January 6th and is a great Christmas gift for the aviation enthusiast in your life. Plus it's the first step in getting to see views like this

I guess sometimes the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow is just good instruction. It looks like the storms are passing through and tomorrow"s weather looks beautiful. Come on out and fly!

There is a hangar party going on this Saturday at 5 pm down at Adventure flights in Lincoln! There will be carnival games, free food, a most excellent silent auction, and some very cool aircraft to ogle. All of the proceeds go toward Tammy and her fight with cancer. We can't wait to see you there!
