Until July 31, 2016--> $10 off Fuel injection service when you mention this post... THE BASICS BEHIND FUEL INJECTION SERVICES AT MIDAS TOTAL CAR CARE During a fuel injection, your vehicle’s fuel injectors are checked. Located in the intake manifold of the engine, fuel injectors use small nozzles to spray a mist of fuel that your engine can burn. Fuel injectors work with your throttle valve, which lets air into the engine whenever you use the gas pedal. When the valve opens, f...uel injectors release the fuel mist so it mixes with the air. This fuel and air combination then enters the combustion chamber and helps your vehicle run. Over time, fuel injectors can become dirty. Clogged injectors can negatively affect your vehicle’s performance, leading to poor gas mileage and dirty exhaust emissions. Short trips make it especially easy for dirt and grime to build up inside the fuel injector nozzles. Because a healthy fuel injection system is important for overall vehicle maintenance, we advise you to keep watch over your fuel injectors and have them serviced as needed. WHY SHOULD YOU HAVE FUEL INJECTION SERVICES PERFORMED AT MIDAS TOTAL CAR CARE? Are you ready for a fuel injection service? If you are experiencing lean misfire, poor acceleration, or rough idling, your fuel injection system may be to blame. When you encounter any of these issues or notice that your fuel injectors are clogged with dirt and grime, give us a visit. Our staff understands that dirty injectors can bring various problems to your vehicle, and we are equipped with the right tools for cleaning them. We will work hard to remove any build up in the nozzles of your injectors. In addition, we can check the pressure and volume of your fuel pump and pressure regulator. While inspecting your vehicle’s fuel injection system, we can also inspect fuel lines, fuel rails, throttle components, and fuel filters. We will also check to see if your vehicle’s sensors are performing correctly. When your vehicle is ready for a fuel injection service, don’t delay.

COOLANT FLUSH: Your cooling system is what keeps your car from overheating. It works by circulating a mixture of water and coolant through the engine. Over time the coolant mixture becomes contaminated with scale and rust, which can clog and damage the cooling system components. A cooling system flush essentially flushes out the entire system of contaminants and replaces the coolant mixture with fresh coolant and water. Keep in mind:... Your mechanic will drain the fluid, clean the system with coolant cleaner, and use water to remove the remaining coolant. After cleaning the system, the mechanic will fill it up with new coolant. This process is effective and an approved industry method of flushing your vehicle’s cooling system. How it's done: Install flush chemical to radiator. Bring the car to operating temperature. Drain the old coolant. Close valve and refill with water. Repeat the process. Fill radiator with a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water. Check for leaks and fan operation. Our recommendation: Some vehicles are equipped with a low coolant sensing system. Should this light come on, have your vehicle inspected for leaks or other possible causes for the low coolant level. Follow the service maintenance schedule provided by the manufacturer to get the coolant replaced at regular intervals. In general, it is a good practice to change the coolant every 40,000-50,000 miles. What are the common symptoms indicating you need a Cooling System Flush? Check Engine warning light is on. Low Coolant warning light is on. Engine is overheating. How important is this service? A cooling system flush is an important part of preventative maintenance and helps to keep your car healthy and on the road.

Power steering fluid service Power steering fluid flows through the power steering hydraulic system. The system is pressurised by the power steering pump and by way of valves, plungers, or pistons decreases the effort needed by the driver to turn the steering wheel. When the pump stops pumping, the pressure drops and the power steering system loses its hydraulic pressure. As components in the steering system wear, metal particles will contaminate the fluid, which will cause s...eals in the system to leak and components to eventually fail. Checking the fluid level and changing the fluid at regular intervals recommended by the manufacturer is important for the life of the hoses, pistons, valves, seals, and the power steering pump itself. Keep in Mind: Pouring in the wrong fluid or overfilling the system can cause expensive damage. The mechanic will need to consult the vehicle owner's or service manual. If the fluid is low, the mechanic will check the hoses, fittings, and clamps for leaks. How It's Done: Empty power steering reservoir. Fill with the correct type and quantity of new fluid. Bleed the Power Steering System / Clean up any residual fluid. Test operation of power steering. Check for any Power Steering Leaks. Our recommendation: Consider getting a power steering flush once every 3-4 years. What are the common symptoms indicating you need a Power Steering Fluid Service? Groaning noise from the power steering pump or steering gear. Difficulty in turning the steering wheel. Contaminated fluid (brown/black). How important is this service? Changing your power steering fluid at manufacturer recommended intervals, will ensure continued system performance and extended service life. It is a part of scheduled maintenance services and will sae you the trouble of major repairs down the road.

Brake System Flush Service What is a Brake System Flush all about? Brake fluid is essential for the operation of a car’s brakes. When you push the brake pedal, the brake fluid causes the brake pads to press against the rotors, making the car slow down and stop. Over time, the brake fluid absorbs air, moisture, sludge and other contaminants and gets contaminated. Air in the brake fluid causes braking to feel spongy and significantly reduces braking efficiency. A brake system f...lush includes removing the existing fluid and moisture out of the system and replacing it with new, clean, fluid. A brake fluid flush ensures proper brake system performance and increases the lifespan of your brake system components. How it's done: Remove contaminated brake fluid. Add new brake fluid. Bleed the brakes. Clean any surfaces where brake fluid has spilled during the bleeding process. Check for fluid leaks. Inspect brake pads, rotors and hoses. Test drive car. Our recommendation: Please follow the manufacturer's maintenance schedule and guidelines regarding fluid maintenance. It is a good practice to change brake fluid every 24,000 miles or 36 months. Always use a fluid recommended by your vehicles manufacturer (do not use silicone based brake fluids if your car needs regular brake fluid). What are the common symptoms indicating you need a Brake System Flush? Brake fluid appears black or brown indicating contamination. Brake pedal feels spongy. Diminished brake system performance. How important is this service? If you do not regularly flush your brake system, it will end up costing you more money down the road. As the fluid becomes contaminated, it will eventually cause brake system components to fail and leak. This will also lead to diminished brake system performance, causing a safety concern.
