I've been in the bike biz most of my working life. My first shop was opened in Ventura in 1983. At that time all the shop owners in town got along with one another. We'd send customers to another shop if they had something we did not have, we'd share advice on repair work and we even pranked each other once in a while. We understood that if the merchant community in Ventura got along and worked together cycling would benefit and so would we. Seems as if times have changed. S...hop owners seem to believe the other shop owners are the enemy. No longer is the owner down the street a brother in arms. Recently a fellow shop owner took an unwarranted stab at tarnishing the reputation of the shop I work for in Yelp. At a time when IBDs are closing daily and the brick and mortar retailer struggles not to be trampled in the online onslaught we should be working together not against each other. To that shop own owner shame on you. See more

Built a very (understatement) light production bike today. Anybody got a guess?

Sadly a Di2 rear derailleur passed away in a crash. I've been wanting to do an autopsy on one and this one got dissected. This is the motor and the chip assembly. Took 20min to extract it and I am impressed with how well sealed it is. Fun with dead parts.

Done and delivered, restoration of a 1976 Raleigh. 30 plus hours of labor, finding impossible to find parts, replaced all the frame material decals, bringing a very dry nearly dead Brooks saddle back to life, I could go on and on but I'll spare you. It was all worth it when the customer saw it couldn't stop going on about how great it looked.
