What does the future hold for Shelter Island, private boat docks and amenities along La Playa Bayside Trail? The Port of San Diego just released their revised Port Master Plan and will accept public comment through November 17. The feedback our community delivered a year ago seems to be incorporated in the latest Revised Draft. That’s good news for protecting Shelter Island height and density limits and making positive improvements to the walking trail while keeping it casual.... The Port also withdrew their demand to demolish private piers along La Playa Anchorage. However, the Port’s Plan must be approved by the California Coastal Commission, and they could decide the piers have no place in the State’s Coastal Act.
