Hi all!!! Just want to make a very exciting announcement that BARRE IS BACK! We have a lovely instructor, Amy North Rawlins that will be leading classes starting in October...next week already! Check out her group Studio Six Barre for updates and info on classes. I have also included her Bio below Welcome Amy ... Hello all! My name is Amy and I grew up in the Auburn area and am now living in Colfax with my husband Ryan and our two boys, Kellen and Rhyse. At age four I discovered dance. I took dance lessons throughout the years, performed in a dance studio’s company, traveled to conventions, and taught dance for 15 years. I loved teaching a variety of students in different genres of dance. However, after my first son was born I decided to stay home and be fully present in my sons’ lives. Over the last few years there has been an empty void. After I met Brooke and Shelby, I fell in love with Pilates and the studio itself. About a year ago Brooke and Shelby approached me with the idea of becoming a certified barre instructor. I finally took the leap and took the Balanced Body Barre course and the Balanced Body Anatomy course. For the last year I have been putting in my training hours as well as taking barre classes myself. I’m super excited to share the upbeat and fun Balanced Body Barre which focuses on core conditioning, strength training, and flexibility while incorporating pilates, yoga, and dance movements. I will begin teaching at Studio Six Pilates on Tuesday October, 2. The class schedule is as follows: Tuesdays- 4:30pm-5:30pm Thursdays- 5:00pm-6:00pm Saturdays- 9:00am-10:00am I look forward to sharing my love for barre and having fun with you all!

{Tuesday Tip} It's cold, but that doesn't mean you are not sweating during a winter workout. It is just as important to stay hydrated during the winter as it is in the summer - especially while participating in high altitude sports (I'm talking to you skiers!) So drink up!

Homework [Week of 12/22] We are going back to a basic this week with a simple but important exercise: breathing. With the holidays here, we can all take a moment to take a few deep breaths a couple of times each day to help relax and recharge the flow of oxygen to the brain and other muscles. Wherever you are, whenever you need to, breathe in deep through your nose, filling your lungs. Exhale by pushing the air out of your mouth until your lungs are completely empty. Repeat as many times as needed.

Stretching in the studio vs at home! Anyone notice the difference?
