Best know for his graphic novels NEW KID and CLASS ACT, Ms. Lauren will be chatting with him as he draws and answers your questions. There's a very special program taking place tomorrow (Wednesday) at 4 p.m. Come e-meet Coretta Scott King and Newbery Award winning graphic novelist Jerry Craft on the main Los Angeles Public Library Facebook Page or YouTube channel. Ms. Lauren will be with him! He'll be drawing while he answers your questions. You probably know him from his graphic novels NEW KID and CLASS ACT, which are available digitally on Overdrive or physically through Library To Go. You definitely don't want to miss this great event!

For those of you who missed this at the time, here is poet Amanda Gorman reciting one of her poems at Central Library in April. She will actually be part of an event hosted by the The Library Foundation of Los Angeles next Thursday, January 28, called Lift Every Voice: Why African American Poetry Matters. Poet and scholar Kevin Young will be speaking with Amanda and poets Kris Bowers, Robin Coste Lewis, and Safiya Sinclair as part of a nationwide celebration of 250 Years of African American Poetry. Looking for a way to incorporate some science into your daily routine? From October 5-9, Los Angeles Public Library will share a Neighborhood Science-based topi...c each day. Everyone is invited to create and share their engineering solutions that fit the theme. Your creation can be made using any materials (LEGO bricks, cardboards, recycled plastic, paper, etc.). Use books, websites, observations, and imagination to build something you love. Each participant can submit 1 entry per day, 5 submissions total. The final day to submit your engineering projects is Monday, October 19th. Prizes will be given, courtesy of the Friends of the Westwood Library!
