Dear Brother Knight, It is less than one week until Election Day and I urge all of you, and your families, to vote. More than 70 million Americans, including Dorian and me, have voted early through the mail or in person. Many more are waiting to vote on Election Day. Regardless of how you cast your ballot, it is the patriotic duty of every American, every Catholic, and every Knight to vote.... In Evangelii Gaudium, Pope Francis reminds us that People in every nation enhance the social dimension of their lives by acting as committed and responsible citizens. A big Thank You to mmbers of St. Timothy Council who contributed sufficient funds to be able to donate 15 laptop computers to Saint Joseph Academy. The academy is the only TK-12th grade Traditional Catholic School in the area serving multiple parishes with a traditional learning environment that blends faith and reason in educating the whole child. The laptops will be distributed to students who otherwise would not have access to their mandatory virtual classroom. Dear Brother Knights, Saint Joseph’s Academy in San Marcos is the only TK -12 Catholic School in North County. It serves children from St. Timothy’s and all the surrounding parishes. The school has an academically rigorous, Christ centered curriculum. It uses a Classical education model that teaches children to read, think, understand, analyze and draw conclusions with a proven method of instruction and curriculum. It has not implemented Common Core and has never focu...sed on students using computers in the classroom. As a result every student doesn’t have their own computer. The COVID-19 pandemic restrictions are forcing Saint Joseph to adopt a remote learning model for the upcoming academic year. Since the students do not use computers in the classroom, they will need to use whatever computer they have at home. Some families have more than one child in the school but only one computer which will make it difficult for some students to attend the on-line classes. To help with the shortage of student computers our Council is hoping to purchase 12 15 laptops at a cost of approximately $200 each. We are asking for your help with the Laptops for St. Joseph’s Project. Please donate any amount you can to help these children deal with their schools being closed and the necessity for on-line learning.
