In honor of Black History Month, each Monday in February we will be celebrating an African American leader in STEM who helped pave the way for advancements in n...ot only Science, Technology, Engineering and Math but in the fight for civil rights and racial equality in America and beyond. Today we're honoring Daniel Hale Williams, the first physician to successfully perform open heart surgery in the United States in 1893. See more
Hello STS Friends and Families! Some local Clarement Graduate University students working in Positive Development Psychology are conducting a research project with a small team and we are looking at the emotional impact of COVID-19 on families with children who have special needs. They need to interview 10 additional parents and I wanted to reach out to see if any of you knew families who might be interested in participating. Through their interview, you would help the st...udents build awareness into how challenging this time has been for families with special needs children. They are looking for parents who live in southern CA and have children under the age of 18. They can be working with any kind of a special need. To participate one member of the team would conduct a 1 hour interview with you. If you are interested please contact Christine D’Amico at 619-665-1264 or www.OpenMindsLearnBest.com Thanks for your consideration!

This week we learned that one of San Diego's Occupational Therapists, Christina Bell, who has worked with us for 14 years is seriously ill and in hospice care. We are so grateful to have had these years to learn and grow with Christina Bell. Our hearts are with her and her family. We have organized a Go Fund Me page to support her and her family, any donations help.
