UCI has expanded the time post stroke to include patients who have had a stroke in the last 5 years: UCI is currently recruiting for a Leg Therapy study at UC Irvine for stroke survivors, led by Dr An Do and Dr Steve Cramer. The study explores the possibility of using brain waves to control a functional electrical stimulation device to help stroke patients improve their walking.... The study involves 4 weeks of therapy, and includes several exams, plus brain imaging (EEG and possibly TMS). There is no charge to the patient or insurance company for any participation, and subjects are compensated $100 at the completion of the study. All activities take place on the main UC Irvine campus, in Irvine. Eligible patients will be 18-80 years old, have had a stroke in the prior 6 months-5 years, are able to walk more than 30 feet without help, and still have leg weakness. Eligible, interested patients can email: [email protected] or Dr Do at: [email protected]; or by PHONE:(949) 824-8748 [ask about the LEG THERAPY STUDY] You can find more information about the study at clinicaltrials.gov (search NCT04279067) If subjects do not meet the eligibility criteria, please contact UCI as there may be other stroke research studies they may be eligible for.
