Beware if you get an advertisement or get a letter from someone soliciting you to refinance with really lows rates. By the time you get that letter, the rate has changed! For current rates, call me and I can give you real time numbers. If I had a dollar for every time the Fed lowered the interest rates, and my clients told me that the rates went down, I would be wealthy! So, when the Fed lowers the rate .25%, what that means is if you have a home equity line of credit that is based on the Prime Rate, then your rate is going down. Mortgage rates are based off the mortgage bond market and it's different. The rate actually went up for most mortgages when the Fed announced the rate cut. Talk to a mortgage professional that's been doing this for over 20 years!
