Greetings brothers and sisters, as we complete our journey together through the Mass, today we’ll look at the ‘Dismissal’ Once the Prayer after Communion has taken place which concludes the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the priests gives us God’s blessing before we are dismissed (missa). After the blessing, the deacon says the dismissal. We are now sent out from celebrating the liturgy in peace to love and serve the Lord, glorifying God by how we live our lives. Both the blessin...g by the priest and the dismissal by the deacon are so important for us, we are here given the graces of God’s blessing that we will need as we live out our lives during the week. The dismissal reminds us that Mass may be concluded, but our call and our duty to live out our Catholic identity goes with us out those Church doors into the parking lot, with us to work, or to school, with us when we’re with our families and our friends. We are reminded that each and every one of us is called to be Christ’s light out in the world, glorifying God by how we live out our Gospel lifestyles. It has been wonderful taking this daily journey through our Faith and through our Liturgy together over the past two months... Many continued blessings to you all, see you around the parish. Greetings brothers and sisters, as we continue on our journey together through the Mass, this week we’ll look at ‘Communion’ The priest prepares himself by a prayer, said quietly, that he may fruitfully receive Christ’s Body and Blood. We, the faithful, should be doing the same, praying silently for that same gift. ... The priest then, showing us the faithful, the Eucharistic Bread and the Chalice, invites us to the banquet of Christ. Receiving the Body and Blood of Christ is a very powerful moment for us, we sing a Communion song, raising our voices in joy, love and thanksgiving for this gift we are receiving in the Lord. This also highlights the communitarian nature of us all walking up, singing in procession together to receive Communion. When the distribution of Communion is finished, both the priest and us, the faithful spend some time in silence privately praying and meditating on this amazing gift that we have just received. Then to bring to completion the prayer of the People of God, the priest says the Prayer after Communion (Closing Prayer), in which he prays for the fruits of the mystery just celebrated which are now present within us. Blessings, Deacon Ryan
