An Unexpected Revelation. My most recent birthday was the best birthday I ever had. It was a simple picnic on my front lawn, socially-distancing with my girls and a couple of family members. If it wasn’t for Covid, it would be at a restaurant.... But because of restrictions, we were doing something so different the old way would’ve included a mediocre steakhouse, but this completely unembellished experience was so real, so magical. Why is that? As I thought about it, I realized how despite the many impacts of the virus and our physical world shrinking as a result, our emotional world was expanding. And what a rich place it was becoming, if we continued to let it. A big, big door has been closed for so many of us - whether in work, in business, or the little things we used to do without thinking about it too much. A big door of a certain predictability and reliability. Of making sense of our world. But now that it’s closed, all these new doors are opening - into new ways of connecting, and being, and creating. How are we going to find these new magic doors that foster a new sense of connection in your personal and work life?
