#FeaturedResearcher! Dr. Cobos is a physician-scientist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Division of Neuropathology, at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the Ronald Reagan Medical Center. Dr. Cobos studies the basic mechanisms underlying the generation and maintenance of cell diversity in the central nervous system. She is using cell type-specific cellular, molecular and genetic techniques to understand how different populations of neurons and glia contribute to disease pathogenesis in the context of neurodegenerative disorders and brain cancer. The 2016 STOP CANCER Research Career Development Award has helped Dr. Cobos to conduct her research! Thank you, Dr. Cobos, for contributions to the fight to #STOPCANCER

#FeaturedResearcher! Meet Dr. Karim Chamie (2014 Research Career Development Award) and learn about the importance of broadening cancer surveillance. Dr. Chamie is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and is a Member of the JCCC Patients and Survivors Program Area. He is a practicing urologist at Ronald Reagan UCLA and Santa Monica Medical Centers. Dr. Chamie is studying the barriers that patients with bladder cancer encounter and hopes to integrate innovative ways to obviate some of the barriers to quality care. Recently honored with a STOP CANCER Research Career Development Award, Dr. Chamie is dedicated to changing the way cancer is treated at UCLA and worldwide!
