Epic day yesterday!! Started it off with making some pancakes for the boys! Then I had the chance enjoy an espresso with @rag1 at his office @thegrgroup to talk about how we smaller brokerages can support each other, and other small businesses here in town. More to come on that soon! Next, I got a quick surf in with @flavoraffinity and @surfchica6 super fun out there!!! After finishing a bit more business, I was fortunate enough to get down to the beach with t...he boys to run around a bit and enjoy the low tide. I’m optimistic today might be even better. You see, I’ve always enjoyed working with all types of folks, but I try to always tie in a little what would I do in most situations, and I’m not like most people. I’m probably borderline weird to a lot of people in my ways. Let me elaborate... I’m saving to buy an investment property from recycling money ...and pocket change. Yep, I’m that crazy I’ve been doing this for over 10 years. So long in fact, I had to move my Excel doc over to Google Drive I’m not even sure I’ll ever get there, but I have a whimsy idea in my head that by saving something so trivial, I think I’ll be able to help others realize they could save up to invest in real estate. Or I’ll just buy beers, with the cash flow (from the beers I recycled), and sit on my porch with my dog? Not sure yet. Btw...it will probably be an out of state investment. Obvi To give an example, In 2012 I went in on a home that sits on a half acre along Route 66 just outside of Kingman AZ. My friend, and I, split the cost equally for the hefty $38,500 sales price. We’ve had the same original tenants in the property the entire time with a rent at $675/month. Even after management, we are still getting an ROI around 20%. It’s basically money to go golfing each month, but it could become a college education, too. Or a number of worthwhile goals that can be accomplished through smart investment over the years. All I’m trying to say is that it is possible, with a little sacrifice. Who knows? Maybe my bean burritos and street tacos (instead of going to Herb & Sea with @gumboandgritz ) could help to pay for my sons education? Or become a down payment on a home for him to live in? Maybe the reason I’m sitting with my son, at Steps on a Monday at noon, is because I’ve thought that being smart with money was very important my whole life. Recess today was awesome! Learned about handshaped surfboards with @sauritchsurfboards , then a lesson on fins (a little math in there counting to 5 on one thanks @garyhanel ) and the ultimate lesson, for dad, on finishing something you start ! When Vaughn pointed out the half shaped blank that I still need to finish for him... Good thing I’ve been learning my whole life, and never intend to stop. Who knows what we are all capable of, unless we get a little nudge from l...ife every once in a while huh? Good luck everyone with the distance learning!
