Behind the Scenes with Andrea B. Stone: While most of my shoots naturally occur outside, I have occasionally had to shoot through a window to get my perfect shot. This can be challenging, as was the case in a second-floor ballroom in the Amtrak station in downtown Dallas, where the glass was very old and distorted. For the past five years, Andrea has been represented by the fine art photography gallery, Lumas. Headquartered in Berlin, they have 29 locations around the world. Sacramento’s historic Crocker Art Museum houses an impressive collection of local, national and international art. Andrea and Rob Stone have each had the honor of the Crocker selecting one of their photographs for the museum’s permanent collection; Doorway to the Daily Diary from Andrea’s City Reflections Project and After Spring Rain from Rob’s Close to Home project.

A behind the scenes, sneak peek of our printing process: This is Tower of Babel, at 34 x 39, emerging from our 44 printer. After a picture is captured, all development and printing is done in our production studio above the gallery. The entire printing process, from start to finish, takes about 40-60 minutes. Once completed, it’s off to be professionally framed at Davis’s own, The Paint Chip.

We wanted to let everyone know that we are available throughout the year to host small groups of people who want to visit our gallery. These smaller gatherings are a lot of fun, and we can provide wine and champagne for these occasions. Meet Rob Stone: As a young desk assistant working at WCBS in New York City, Rob was deeply influenced by the time he spent at the Museum of Modern Art, looking at Pablo Picasso’s Guernica and Claude Monet’s Water Lilies. Picasso channeled the emotional horror of war. Monet revealed the breathtaking power of something as simple as water. From this experience, Rob learned the importance of discovering the emotional center of his subject. He began to reflect on the ways that bea...uty and agony can be intertwined, both in nature, and in the human experience. Stone Photography Gallery celebrated Andrea’s new European collection with an invite only, champagne reception on November 3rd. It was a wonderful evening with great company, and the Stones would like to thank everyone who came to share in the celebration.
