You may have been told that essential oils have been used for thousands of years. Distillation didn’t exist then so oils didn’t either. However the art of aromatherapy did. Tribal cultures burned plants to make incense for spiritual and medicinal purposes. We do use essential oils, diffused and topically, for people and pets. We’ve studied them and are experts at finding the ideal blend or oil for your needs.

Catnip can be an effective training aid or a nice treat for your cat. Besides making them relaxed and happy - reducing stress - it can relax their abdominal muscles. If you create a catnip spray for your cat, it can soothe skin conditions due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Catnip comes in various forms. We recommend organic catnip so cats aren’t exposed to toxic insecticides often used for growing. Cat toys made with catnip are ideal if you want to get your cat t...o play. Dried catnip is great as a snack. Freeze what you don’t use right away to keep it fresh for the next time. You will find organic catnip plants and seeds on line and at many nurseries so you can grow your own. Catnip spray isn’t ideal unless it’s a pure essential oil. Other ingredients make it unsafe. Post here if you’d like the recipie for a catnip spray. See more

As you cruise down the aisle to restock on hand soap, know that antibacterial is not the same as antiviral. SARS-CoV-2 is a virus not a bacteria. There is evidence that benzalkonium chloride found in some antibacterial hand soaps isn’t effective against certain bacteria and viruses. If you can find it, be sure your hand sanitizer contains at least 60% alcohol. Stick with the basics: plain hand soap for hand washing, 60% alcohol for hand sanitizing, unexpired bleach for household cleaning, and face-covering mask, scarf or bandana when you visit public places.

Are you using a diffuser to bring healthy fragrance into your home while you are sheltering in place? Remember, that like hands, it can develop fungus or bacteria so to clean it well. The vinegar and water method is tried and true for most every diffuser and keeps it clean and bacteria free. 1) Put water in your diffuser as usual. 2) Add one tablespoon of white vinegar. Its high acid content makes it a good natural disinfectant. 3) Run for 10-20 minutes to allow the vinega...r to disperse. The smell is strong so I place mine in the bathroom. 4) Dampen a cloth in the remaining water/vinegar and pour out the remainder. 5) Use the cloth to wipe the interior then the exterior of your diffuser. Use a Q-tip to get into the nooks and crannies. 5) Refill and use. It’s probably a good idea to clean once a month. If you change your oils frequently, you might want to remove all excess oil each week. See more
