Dr. Stokes' Lab

Today was a good day for the Stokes lab. Calvin and I had a paper published recently. It’s his first publication, so I framed the first page of the paper for him. In addition, Jazmine Mejia Munoz gave a presentation on research she’s been doing in my lab. She’s also in the acknowledgments for the paper that was published (she’s pointing to her name). We celebrated by discussing a different paper over lunch! I pretty much have the best students. Yay science!

Anthony and Calvin both got awards at the NSME honors recognition ceremony last night.

Congratulations to my student, Jazmine Mejia, on getting a research internship with the Moss Landing Marine Labs!!!! I'm so proud of her! Despite being at an inland campus, she has worked hard to get some marine biology experience. Yay, Jazmine!!!

Grad checks for Spring 2017 graduation are due April 29!!!

This was in the school newspaper, and highlighted two of my students, Calvin Susbilla and Anthony Cruz. The reporter didn't quite get the details of Anthony's research down correctly, but it's still cool. Good job guys!!

The results are in!!! Anthony got 3rd place for undergraduates in our field, and Calvin tied for 2nd place for graduate students in our field. Congrats to both of you!!! Great job!!

Calvin and Anthony both participated in the Student Research Poster Competition. They both did great!!!
