Join us at the San Joaquin Pride Center on Saturday, November 20th from 4-6:30 PM to observe the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance. Every year, transgender folks face disproportionate amounts of violence and murder, and every year the number of reported deaths climb. This year marks the deadliest year on record, with 73 murders in the US, and 460 worldwide. There are many whose deaths went unreported. Now is the time to show up and support our trans community and loved ones as we grieve this massive loss. This year we will be cohosting with Senator Susan Eggman's office, as well as the San Joaquin Gender Health Clinic. We will also be unveiling the Pride Center's new wall mural sponsored by Blue Shield of California.

It’s National Coming Out Day! We understand that coming out to your friends and family, and even to yourself, can be tough and even scary at times. Here at the San Joaquin Pride Center, we provide a safe space and resources to those who may be coming out, as well as for those who have a friend or family member that they would like to support through the coming out process.... Need extra support? We also provide free counseling services. Just give us a call at 209-565-5023 to schedule an appointment.

Stockton Pride 24.10.2020

Greetings everyone, As we conclude the 2020 pride season, we uplift this profound moment to affirm that black lives matter. Pride this year came on the heels of a global pandemic and a nation confronting the murder of George Floyd at the hands of police officers. This horrific tragedy, and the murders of Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and Ahmaud Arbery by police and white vigilantes, have created a nationwide uprising crying out for racial justice and the protection of Black l...ife. We acknowledge that pride did not start as a celebration or parade but came about when the most marginalized population of the LGBT+ community rose up in the tenderloin district of San francisco at the Gene Compton cafeteria riots. 3 years later, in New York at the stonewall inn. When Syliva Rivera, Marsha P Johnson along with other trans women and queer people of color said enough was enough, throwing the first brick laying the foundation for the start of the modern day Gay rights movement. We stand here 50 years later with an administration trying to erase the work of our elders. With a nation fighting to erase systemic racism. And with the lives of our trans siblings ending violently and still going unnoticed. Sadly at the time of this post, 2020 has already seen at least 22 transgender or gender non-conforming people fatally shot or killed by other violent means. We say at least because too often these stories go unreported or misreported. Since July 1st we have lost: Shaki Peters, 32-year old. Bree Black, 27-year-old, Summer Taylor,27-year old, Marilyn Cazares, 22-year-old. These killings are being fueled by the deadly combination of racism and transphobia, and they must cease. We must come together as a community and demand justice for those who were taken from us. We must come together as a community to cultivate acceptance, preserve our pride, and stand for our most vulnerable. We recognize that our events each year should simultaneously honor our past, embrace our present, and represent a pledge to work for a future free from discrimination. In lieu of a traditional Pride event and in-person gathering, Stockton Pride 2020 will be virtual, please Save the date for August 29th, 2020! Calling all Vendors, Sponsors, Artists and Participants! We are now accepting applications! Sign up today to get involved. Contact us at [email protected].
