St Mark Coptic Orthodox Church

"Your House, O Lord, I Love" For many of us in the Los Angeles Area, St. Mark means more to us than just a building. St. Mark is humble, warm, caring, and full of amazing family and friends, and our loving priests. Oftentimes, when we speak of St. Mark, we say, "I love my St. Mark Family!" St. Mark IS OUR HOME. Although we are hurt by the unforeseen situation with COVID-19 and the temporary relocation of church services to the roof, our love for St. Mark grows even fonder tha...n before. We cannot wait to come back home for regular Liturgies, Sunday School, and Services! But since the main church is vacated, we wanted to initiate projects that would have required us to be out of the main church anyways. In other words, since we are not using the inside of the church, we might as well take advantage of the situation and perform the major projects that would have required us not to use the building. There are four main projects that require our attention at this time: 1. Replacing the flooring of the main church with durable and aesthetic material (Since rebuilding in 2000) 2. Replacing the Electric Panel that supports the chapel and main church (Since rebuilding in 2000) 3. Painting of the Sunday School Classrooms and replacing the walls of the Cry-room (wear and tear due to high traffic and use) 4. Replacing the Holy Bread (Orban) Commercial Dough Mixer in Bethlehem House (Purchased in 2000) As noted above, many of these items are 20 years old and have surpassed their expected life span, and need to be replaced. Other items are necessary to maintain due to their heavy use. The budget for these four projects is $150,000. Breast Cancer Awareness Month: The Saint Mark Coptic Orthodox Church of Los Angeles Parish, Family, and Community extend its prayers and support to current patients, survivors, family, and friends and all affected by breast cancer and all cancers. We encourage our entire parish to raise its heart in supplication to the Lord for healing and peace to all afflicted by the disease. The church encourages all her children to get screened early as early detection is key in battling cancer. Finally, to those needing prayer, please reach out to any of the church's servants or the parish priests for prayer requests. May the Lord our God visit the sick with mercy and compassion. May He "take away from them, and from us, every sickness and every malady; the spirit of sicknesses, chase away." Amen
