Today is GivingTuesday. GivingTuesday was established in 2012 to encourage people to take the feelings of thanksgiving that they have and put it into concrete action in our communities. As noted at hq.givingtuesday.org, GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.! There are many worthwhile organizations that we encourage you to support on this special day of giving. Should y...ou wish to support St. John’s Lutheran Church and its community ministries, we want to highlight some of the activities that would be supported by your generosity: St. John’s is currently working on broadening its online focus to allow those who seek to know God to find a place to be heard and included. Through our website, Zoom Bible Studies and Worship Services, we embrace the diversity of our communities and encourage an engagement in connection and support for one another. St. John’s is active in reaching children the youngest and most vulnerable in our communities by showcasing in-home Bible Study, crafts and friendship through our mobile Sunday School. A team of volunteers that creates meaningful and heartwarming lessons that are delivered to the homes of children in our community. During the Advent season we are also hosting Wednesday evening family services at 6:30 p.m., where families can learn the significance of this season and make their own homemade advent wreath. St. John’s provides meals and support for those who have felt the loss of loved ones during this pandemic and have little personal support and connection. Through the delivery of meals, supportive communications and virtual outreach, we continue to provide support to those whose hearts are aching. In addition, we have an active and caring team of Stephens Ministers who are available to provide an ongoing shoulder and ear of support. St. John’s is an active partner in caring for our seniors who may be homebound and sheltering from the pandemic. Through our buddy program and old fashioned snail mail approach, we reach out to seniors in our community with printed worship materials, cards of support and connection and regular phone calls.
