Pr. Katy Grindberg will lead a Bible study conversation on the themes of Epiphany and Waking to Wonder starting this Sunday. What does God reveal to us in the Epiphany season? We will wonder together about our own discernment of where God may be calling us each individually and collectively into discipleship for the sake of our community and the world. Join us this evening for prayer and conversation about what God is revealing to us in this present moment. With all the tension in our nation adding to an already stressful time for all of us, it can help us to cling to the promises of our faith and remember who really is in charge. In keeping with an Epiphany tradition we will also bless our houses and dwelling places for this new year. Register on Zoom to join us!

Councilmember Katie Valenzuela has convened a District 4 Homelessness Task Force to help her identify short-term and long-term solutions to homelessness in our community. As a first step, the Task Force wants to identify appropriate parcels for safe camping and safe parking locations for the City to consider as short-term interventions while we continue to identify and pursue long-term solutions. If you live, work, own property, or have insight into places in District 4, click this link to learn more and respond to a brief survey to aid in this effort by Friday, January 15! https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLScVJnjGe3wd_MKyz/viewform.

As you might have guessed, we won't be serving our traditional Community Thanksgiving Meal this year due to COVID-19, but we are going to serve a to-go meal for our neighbors with the help of our Pilgrimage leaders and chefs! Throughout this time of pandemic, Steve Ruder has still been serving meals in to-go containers for our neighbors a couple of times a month with only a few others on site to help put together the meal and serve it. He is happy to be able to offer a Thanks...giving meal, but we need your help! We are looking for food donations of stuffing, green beans, and pies. Because we are going to be working with only a few people on site, we will need all food donations to be fully ready-to-eat and warm when they are brought by. To sign up to donate food, go to https://signup.com/go/vsEHMZX. We are still going to be practicing social distancing and all of the proper safety measures to keep everyone safe and healthy, so we will only need a few extra hands to pull this together. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Rebekah Turnbaugh at [email protected].

NEW EPISODE TODAY! For Christians in the United States, being active in democracy is a faithful work. It is the way we affect change in our public policies and government agencies for the sake of God's desire for us and the world that God loves. In this episode of Sacramental Sacramento, Pastor Amy Kienzle talks with Regina Banks, Director of the Lutheran Office of Public Policy in California. She is also a candidate on the ballot this year for Trustee and Area 1 of the Elk G...rove School Board. We talk politics, faith and getting out the vote https://youtu.be/k3HwEuXGOW8
