I really wish there wasn't a need for these tools of support, but the sad reality is that every 16 seconds someone ends their life, leaving multiple survivors of suicide behind. This is the tool that I hand out to my patients who are SOS. I hate that my stack of copies ran out and I need to order more. I hate that thousands and thousands of people feel so lonely, hopeless, scared, overwhelmed, shamed, etc that he or she feels that suicide is their only option. At 3:00 PM pacific time today, there will be a united moment of remembrance for all of the service members and their families who gave the ultimate sacrifice. ...As we pause for them, I ask you to also remember the men, women and families who physically returned to their loved ones, but are no longer the same person who left on a particular deployment. PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury and destroyed bodies took that former person away forever. I know most service members and many of you may not agree to this concept, that this day is for the ones who died. I hear you.
