Breath in hope, breath out fear Sending all of you love during this stressful time If you are feeling stressed, try to engage in this deep breathing exercise:... 1. Sit or lie flat in a comfortable position. 2. Put one hand on your belly just below your ribs and the other hand on your chest. 3. Take a deep breath in through your nose, and let your belly push your hand out. Your chest should not move. 4. Breathe out through pursed lips as if you were whistling. Feel the hand on your belly go in, and use it to push all the air out. 5. Do this breathing 3 to 10 times. Take your time with each breath. 6. Notice how you feel at the end of the exercise. In honor of Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month, we’re celebrating ballerina and activist Ingrid Silva @ingridsilva! Born in Brazil, Ms. Silva is now a professional dancer who performs with the Dance Theatre of Harlem. From Dancemagazine.com: The Brazilian native has made it her mission to push for greater diversity in dance. She participates in community outreach, performs as an international guest artist and even founded her own platform, EmpowHer NY. Ms. Silva says, "I never... felt represented when I was youngerI didn't see anyone that looked like me in ballet in Brazil," Silva says. "Now I realize how important that representation is to shape the future of this younger generation."
