Next up.... A peek at St. Basil's Halloween festivities. "Always believe that something wonderful is about to happen!"

St. Basil School 17.10.2020

On October 17th, last year's 2nd grade class gathered with their teacher and their parents, to receive their First Communion. Even though the amount of people that could attend was limited, the Church, Miss Brooke and our families made it a lovely day. "During their First Commumion and for every day to come, we pray they feel Heaven's blessing shining down on them."

"We can't wait for the storm to blow over. We have to learn how to work in the rain." ~Jennifer Granholm It's amazing how quickly we go from one way of life to another in the blink of an eye. This global pandemic has historically changed our economy, way of life, use of technology, and how we physically interact with each other. All so quicly and unexpected. Families and teachers are left wondering if they are doing enough, yet are working twice as hard. The stress has compou...nded for families with multiple children in different grades, or when parents work long hours outside the home. Some teachers are teaching from home, while also helping their own children. Everyone feels overwhelmed with uncertainty. Students and teachers left school on March 13th, with the understanding they would return in two weeks. Unfortunately the shelter in place has extended and students will not be returning until after June. This leaves families and teachers feeling hopeless. This is why soon to be Vice-Principal, Gretchen DelRosario decided to bring our St. Basil community together for a positive parade. Teachers from preschool to 8th grade showed up with decorated cars and positive signs to cheer families on. Our school DJ, Ed Manio, played uplifting music, including the song by Alicia Keys, "Good Job." Father Jeremy was at the start of the parade waving to families while bringing a sense of peace. Seeing students yesterday (from a distance) and their smiles of excitement will forever be engrained in our hearts. Teachers look forward to the day where they can say, "Hooray! You're here!" to a classroom full of healthy, safe, and smiling students. Yesterday was such a positive moment for all, and hopefully resonates in everyone's soul during this difficult time. #SBSstrong #loveoneanother #wegotthis #weareinthistogether

Mrs. Collins and Molly prepared our 8th graders to end the talent show with a song. This has been a long time tradition for our eighth graders. The song chosen was the theme song from the television series 'Friends!' Lots of bittersweet tears.

St. Basil's Annual Talent Show was a huge success! What a blessing to have our first grade sub., Miss Castillo, who also is a former student, start our show. She was in the talent show 17 years ago while in third grade. She remembers Mrs. D pushing her to shine. A shoutout to our FAVORITE talent show team. Coco's decorations, Ed's outstanding DJ skills, as well as, Mrs. D and Mrs. Lyon's hard work, putting it all together, helps make an enjoyable show for all. ... Thank you to all the parents who helped get their child prepared. The show would not go on without all of your help! Lastly, thank you to our wonderful parents for all of your POSITIVITY and support. It takes a team to create such a successful event. P.S. We would love to add a photographer to our event, so that we can get pictures of all of our performers. Good job everyone!

St. Basil's school principal has taken a promising and positive move toward bullying. This included a great speaker to talk with parents and students on cyber safety. If you were unable to attend this very informative meeting, please visit the speaker's (Richard) website at www.IROC2.org. This will provide you with tips on your family's cyber safety protection. The information provided is worth the visit to his page!
