For the past few months, Eduardo Aguilar has been receiving virtual painting lessons from art instructor Carlos Reyes through Zoom. On the last stretch of an oil painting study of Saint Cecilia (painted in 1606) by Italian painter Guido Reni, they chose the front of Stay Gallery as a safe location to meet in person. It was local to both, offered good shade, seating space, and what we’d consider to be the perfect location on Downey Avenue for a painting session! Although our doors remain closed to the public for the time being, we are considering a variety of ways to safely reopen for our community in the near future. We hope to continue providing a space that inspires creativity in our city, for students, artists and families alike. - #stayarts #staygallery #staycreative

Since opening our doors 8 years ago today, Stay Gallery has served as a gathering space for students, artists and families to explore, share and enjoy art through public exhibitions, workshops and events. Although our doors remain closed due to the pandemic and our programming has moved online for the foreseeable future, we look forward to the day that we could gather with our community again.
