State Center Community College District Police Department is proud to participate in the Valley Pink Patch Project 2020. The Valley Pink Patch Project is a public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and support local breast cancer patients at the Marjorie E. Radin Breast Care Center. The Valley Pink Patch Project is a collaborative effort between several Central Valley Public Safety agencies. These agencies have partnered together... to combat breast cancer by raising public awareness and raising funds for breast cancer research and treatment. The program centers on vibrant pink versions of the public safety officer's uniform patch. Officers at each of the participating agencies will wear these pink patches on their regular uniforms for the entire month of October, during "Breast Cancer Awareness Month." Wearing Pink Patches will stimulate conversation with the community and encourage public awareness about the importance of early detection and the on-going fight against this disease. You can support the Valley Pink Patch Project by purchasing a copy of a Pink Patch. When you buy a $10 collectible pink patch, 100% of your purchase supports local breast cancer patients at the Marjorie E. Radin Breast Care Center.
May 15th of each year is Peace Officers Memorial Day. It is a day set aside to pay tribute to local, state, and federal peace officers who have died in the line of duty. State Center Community College District Police Department Officers and Staff honor our brethren who have made the ultimate sacrifice preserving the safety of our communities. We also recognize and honor the sacrifice their families and loved ones have made.
The 19th Annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive runs from Monday, May 4th until Saturday, May 16th. Help the Central California Blood Center with your donation on behalf of your favorite Public Safety Agency. Our Chief of Police donated the gift of life this afternoon.
Public Safety Dispatcher Week The State Center Community College District Police Department recognizes and honors all of its Communications Dispatchers on National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week for stepping up to be Everyday Heroes. SCCCD PD Communications Dispatchers are your first point of contact with our agency. It takes a special kind of person to be able to properly do the job of a Public Safety Dispatcher at a Community College District. Our Dispatchers have to... be ready for the diversity of calls they receive for assistants from Students, Faculty, Staff, and the General Public. Calls range from the mundane to life-threatening situations. It takes skillfulness, courage, patience, and empathy to gather the appropriate information to provide the proper resources for the caller’s needs while keeping the educational mission of our District in mind. Next time you call a Dispatch Center for 9-1-1 or the Non-Emergency telephone number of a Public Safety Agency, be sure to thank the person on the other side of the phone line. They are on the job 24/7/365, waiting and willing to be helpful.
How to Protect Yourself from COVID-19 Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. When you cough or sneeze, use the... inside of your elbow or cover your mouth and nose with a tissue. Throw used tissues in the trash. Don’t touch your face. We should particularly try to avoid touching the eyes, nose, and mouth, which can be an effective way of halting the spread of diseases. Viruses can live for days on surfaces from desktops to door handles, and once on, our hands can be transferred into our bodies through these entry points. The coronavirus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. Don’t spread COVID-19. Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care. https://www.cdc.gov///prevent-getting-sick/prevention.html
