Last year, we let you know that AB 616 was going to strip workers of their rights. Thousands of you responded and the bill was never signed into law. Just like we predicted, the same anti-farming interests are back want take away agricultural employees right to a secret ballot in union elections. Make your voice heard! Tell your representatives to vote NO on this bill and help defend ag employees right to a secret ballot. Don't let anti-farming interests win.... https://admin.phone2action.com/njz1oyt

Hands-on, is a must in a time of distance learning! By: Anna Genasci Recently scrolling through Facebook I came upon beautiful floral arrangements shared by Turlock High School Instructor, Randee Vitorino. It was the work of Mrs. Vitorino’s advanced floral students, Vanessa Lizarraga and Paris Cabral. In chatting with all three in a recent interview, I learned that the group of Bulldog Bouquets gals share a common theme, hands-on, is a must. ...Continue reading

On October 8th, The Modesto Bee Editorial Board wrote an endorsement article that misrepresented our organization. One would have to call and ask questions to make assumptions like The Bee made. The Bee did not call. Our President called their Opinions Page Editor immediately after the article went online. To date, The Bee has not made an effort to correct their story. Today, we sent a Letter to the Editor. The letter is listed below and will also be in our E-News this... week. It is unfortunate and disheartening that it came to this but this is what the situation is today. LETTER TO THE EDITOR - The Modesto Bee Submitted October 13, 2020 CORRECTING THE RECORD In the October 8, 2020 issue, the Bee made its endorsement for the Modesto Irrigation District Division 1. The article assumed the following reasoning for the action taken by the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau. But farmers are not necessarily thrilled with Byrd’s schtick. Faced with an endorsement decision, the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau did not select the incumbent, opting instead to sit this one out. That action speaks volumes about the trust they no longer have in Byrd, as well as deference to Powell Roos’ rising star. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is false and misleading. Farm Bureau considers an endorsement for every candidate who makes a formal request to the Farm Bureau’s Board of Directors. The Modesto Bee made no effort to contact any of Farm Bureau’s staff or Directors about any endorsement or inquire about SCFB endorsement policy. In September, 13 candidates in 7 races sought our endorsement. Only one candidate garnered our support. We are proud of our stringent policy. It is never a given. That is why it is one of the most sought-after political endorsements in Stanislaus County. Good luck to both candidates! We request a retraction and apology. Jake Wenger President

Supporters of Prop. 15 are claiming that ag property is exempt. This is categorically false. Prop 15 hikes taxes on a range of ag property from irrigation systems to fruit & nut trees. Read what the president of @Fresno County Farm Bureau has to say below. (https://gvwire.com//dont-believe-prop-15-backers-its-a-bi/)
