This year, as in every year past, we started our day of classes with prayers Before Lessons. The only difference was that this year Fr. Philip led us in prayer ...virtually, sharing with SJA students, staff, and families the daily Gospel and a few words to guide us through our first day of studies. God willing, in the near future we hope to be able to return to our physical campus and pray together again as a community. Until then, we will keep this important tradition using the tools that we have, asking God's blessing on our studies every day. See more

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! Our school year started with our traditional moleben for the beginning of studies in front of the relics of our patron saint, St. John of San Francisco. The moleben was live streamed on the Holy Virgin Cathedral YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCy0Arf1Jk3MX4fmbtk47vIg Families were then invited to school to pick up their books and materials for the year. Students also received paper icons of St. John, holy oil from the lamp next to his relics, and copies of the prayers for before lessons and after lessons.

This feast day of our patron saint, St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco is this weekend, Saturday, July 4th. Services will be live-streamed.
