We'd like to thank outgoing Mayor Rich Garbarino as he completes his final City Council meeting TONIGHT (Dec. 9), which marks the end of 38 years of service to South City. The photo below was from the 2015 opening of Johnson & Johnson's JLABS incubator, where Garbarino was a featured speaker.
The City is offering free parking in Miller Garage from 9 to 5 on Saturday & Sunday, Dec. 19-20 and Dec. 26-27. Come support Downtown merchants during the holidays!
Our South San Francisco Police Department Downtown Bike Patrol (est. 1999) works with people experiencing homelessness in our City and works with them to get them the services that they need, in partnership with LifeMoves and other agencies across San Mateo County. The City has 8 new trash and recycle receptacles located on Grand Ave between Spruce Ave and Airport Blvd, City Hall (upper parking lot) and People’s Park on Maple Ave. The units have the traditional handle to open the lid as well as a foot pedal. South San Francisco City Manager Mike Futrell highly encourages everyone to utilize the foot pedal.

Frontier Medicines is one of several SSF biotech firms leading the fight against COVID! Frontier has a deal with Abbvie to develop small-molecule drugs using Abbvie’s chemoproteomics platform, with programs directed to novel E3 ligases and certain oncology and immunology targets. Abbvie will pay Frontier $55 million up front, with potential milestone payments that could exceed $1 billion and royalties. Abbvie will reimburse R&D spending through defined stages of preclinical development and take over all responsibility and costs after that. Frontier holds an option to share costs and development for certain oncology programs through the finish of phase II work. Learn more at: https://www.bioworld.com//500860-uk-is-first-country-to-ap

A reminder - please help keep our city clean by NOT tossing litter into the street or dropping it on the sidewalk. There is an increase of littering and property damage/vandalism around our great City, especially on our school campuses. This behavior will not be tolerated and it is not beneficial for anyone involved. Please do your part in keeping our City beautiful, and do not destroy what is not yours. If you notice graffiti, vandalism, etc., immediately report it by calling 650-877-8550 or on-line https://seeclickfix.com/south-san-francisco City staff will do the rest. Thank you for having pride in our city, and doing your part.
