Hey Spirit Harbor Family, I know it has been a long time since we've been active on Facebook. Believe it or not, we're coming up on 3 years since we decided to take a break to do some inner reflection and to fix some important relationships. It is fitting that, in this time of upheaval and uncertainty in the world, we would finally be called back to this work of community building right here in our hometown - Oceanside. Erik and I are starting a journey with a new faith pa...rtner - Generation Church Oceanside. We're going to be there this Sunday to help lead worship at 9:30am. Please see the link below for more details. I gave up the high pressure pitch for church a long time ago so consider this a simple, no strings attached invitation to join us on our journey. http://www.gotogeneration.com/
It was a privilege to help lead worship again at Clairemont Lutheran Church - San Diego this morning. We appreciate the opportunity to share music again.
It was great to help lead worship with the good people of Clairemont Lutheran. It has been two years since I have stepped into a Lutheran church and even longer since we've gone as a family. I'll be honest that we had some nervousness about playing CCM songs at a church that is very accustomed to traditional liturgical worship. But, as always, we love the liturgy and God always works through us so that the music just works no matter what setting. Thanks be to God!
Why, How, What - we're challenging the status quo of what it means to be church. It starts with understanding why we do what we do. And, surprisingly enough, you don't have to be religious to understand the reason why. Check out this video about the power of purpose. https://www.ted.com//simon_sinek_how_great_lea/transcript
HOW - By making a difference every day through many individual acts of Love.
WHY - Called by a higher power to build strong and vibrant communities.
We live in this world where we continue to get more polarized and less able to talk. Here is some great advice on how to have a conversation. "Be interested in other people...and be prepared to be amazed." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6n3iNh4XLI
The Big Redwood Table is almost done. Sometimes you just need to build a bigger table.
Something to consider as we continue to work to envision a new relationship with church. https://churchleaders.com//299772-christians-give-reach-un
We don't break the law. We break ourselves against the law. God's law is not about judgement and retribution. It is about natural, unchanging principles for living happy and fulfilling lives. The more we break ourselves against those principles, the more we put ourselves into our own self-inflicted hell.
