Join me today for the last day of the stress reduction challenge where I'll be teaching about active and passive muscle relaxation. https://fb.me/e/1EUqpddM0 You can also watch the replays of the first two!
Life is a journey that is about both becoming our most authentic version of our best self while simultaneously un-becoming everything that we were taught we had to be that was holding us back. #SpiralUpward
Are you feeling the effects of a long year? Are you tired, burned out, and ready for a change? Then come join this free 3 day, stress reduction challenge hosted by Dr. Michelle Kuranishi. The stress reduction challenge will begin November 1st. Join the fun now!... In this challenge you will receive some education and information from Dr. Michelle Kuranishi about how stressors affect the mind and body, gain ideas for de-stressing, and receive some meditations to help you on your journey. Dr. Michelle Kuranishi is a licensed clinical psychologist, life coach, and certified hypnotherapist with seven years of experience helping people de-stress. She obtained her doctoral degree at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, with a major in neuropsychology. Prior to that, Dr. Kuranishi was a bomb disposal technician in the USMC, with two combat deployments, so she knows a thing or two about stress! *** Do not use the meditation, guided imagery, hypnosis, or contra-indicated techniques while driving or during activities that require your full attention (especially since the first thing you hear is usually "Close your eyes"). https://fb.me/e/1k08Q1HWS

A moment of mindfulness. Take a break, tune into your breathing, notice the sound coming to your ears, notice which parts of your body are tensed and which are relaxed. Try to relax the parts that are tense. Notice what you feel as you watch the geese. Notice your thoughts or memories that come when you watch the video.

Scientific research shows that certain therapies can reduce symptoms of PTSD and improve brain health. Three of the most effective treatments are neurofeedback,... cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Studies show that neurofeedback significantly reduces PTSD symptoms, CBT has been found to reverse the underlying biology of the disorder within the brain, and EMDR is especially helpful for people who have experienced abuse. On brain SPECT scans, the pattern of PTSD typically reveals over-activity in multiple areas of the brain, which is often referred to as the diamond plus pattern. This high activity tends to keep the brain on overdrive, increasing anxiety and irritability and interfering with sleep. #PTSD @amen_clinics
