The shop will be closed today and tomorrow Oct.29 - 30 due to a special event in Las Vegas. I will still be taking calls as time allows. Joe
I'll be in Idaho on "eclipse watch" through Monday, so the shop will be closed, but I'll still be answering the phone though, so don't hesitate to call with questions! -Joe
I have a request for you Jeep owners out there. I've had a customer, Dave, for a number of years that could use a little help with his transportation. Dave is a really nice old guy who is wheelchair-bound, lives on what I perceive to be a limited fixed income, and has an old XJ that his son and various friends and neighbors use to get him around. I'm called in, typically a house call, when they can't figure out how to fix something, and Dave is always there with a few fresh... $20's he tries to put in my hand. The problem is, this Cherokee has passed the point that it's cost effective to keep it one the road... it's just falling apart. Worse than that, it's one of those early XJ's with a carbureted 2.8L V6 that won't pass smog anymore. Trying to bring these engines back up to standards just isn't cost effective. So if anyone knows of a slightly newer Cherokee with a fuel injected 4.0 that can be make to work without too much work... doesn't need to be pretty... I'm sure it would make Dave's day. See more
It's that time of year again. The tin roof cook's everything in the shop.
I'll be closed Friday to help set up the for the CORVA annual meeting, which will be at Hollister Hills SVRA for the first time. Come on down if you want to learn about CORVA, or just want to watch me scape my Jeep through TankTrap, or try some of the new obstacles that have been constructed in the last few years! We'll be camping in "area 5".
This is what the Rubicon Trail Foundation's Black Tie and Boots event looks like. . It's still early.
Assembling a new 304 for a '79 CJ7... Waiting for the timing cover...
Another terminated Gov-lock. I've never understood why these things die such a violent death.
The "Universal Jeep" is still put to work on the farm.
This drove in today. It's like the love child of a Vanagon and a Peterbilt, with a little Suburban tossed in. It has a Chevy V8, 203 transfer case, Dana 44 front and 12 bolt rear. It has sand ramps straped on it's left side.
Semi-custom twin shifters for a 205 transfer case in a '71 K10, provided by Jon at JB Conversions. The stainless steel levers needed to be offset a couple inches, and a bushing was needed for the smaller pivot bolt on this oddball version of the 205.
Q: What's this?
