Fatal Traffic Collision: On February 6th 2021, at approximately 3:37 am, South San Francisco Police officers responded to the 600 block of Grand Avenue on the report of a person with an electric bicycle down in the roadway. Officers discovered the 55-year-old male subject was not breathing and immediately began providing life-saving aid. The South San Francisco Paramedics arrived shortly after and continued efforts to revive the male; however, he succumbed to his injuries an...d was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male was riding an electric bicycle westbound on the 600 block of Grand Avenue when he collided with a parked vehicle and was thrown from his electric bicycle. The male was not wearing a DOT approved helmet but was wearing a novelty helmet with no padding. There is no evidence to suggest any other vehicles were involved in the collision, and it appears alcohol may have been a contributing factor. The South San Francisco Police Department is requesting anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact the department at 650-877-8900, 650-952-2244 (Anonymous Tip Line), or via email at [email protected] or [email protected] (Anonymous Email Tips). Over the last few months, the South San Francisco Police Department has been investigating a series of storage locker facility and apartment complex burglaries in the Westborough and Downtown Corridor neighborhoods. Detectives executed a number of search warrants and ultimately identified the suspects as 36 year-old Arvin Ibasan of Crockett, 30 year-old Johnrow Fernandez of Fairfield, and 31 year-old Hustler Mateverde of Daly City. Evidence suggested that the three conspi...red together to commit roughly 40 burglaries in South San Francisco and an estimated 55 additional burglaries throughout the Bay Area. During the week of October 19, 2020, the suspects were apprehended without incident and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
