We will have two exciting speakers for our November online meeting. Our friend, Diana Glyer has sent us two of her students for our November 18th presentation. It will be at 7:30 pm pst. The two are graduating seniors from the Azusa Pacific University Honors College. Katherine Lu and Kat Harler are working with their classmates to write a new book about Mere Christianity, tentatively titled C. S. Lewis: Relevant Then; Relevant Now. Is C. S. Lewis hopelessly out of date? Does Gen Z find anything of value in his words? These students have spent more than 6 months wrestling with these questions. They will be sharing their tentative conclusions. If you don't get the link by email, send an email to [email protected]

We're just two weeks away from our monthly meeting, and we're getting the word out now because you won't want to miss it! We'll start early, 5 PM PST, so please take note of that time change and get it in your calendars asap! The meeting is Wednesday, October 21st, and as usual, it will be virtual through the Zoom platform. The link is at the bottom of this email. The meeting will be recorded. I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with Dorothy Sayers, but did you know tha...t "When Dorothy L. Sayers died, C.S. Lewis wept."? This is the opening line of Dr. Crystal Downing's latest book, Subversive: Christ, Culture, and the Shocking Dorothy L. Sayers. Dr. Downing will be our guest speaker and give a talk about her book in which she explores how Sayers, a Christian scholar (and famous mystery novelist), sought to discover "new conclusions on unchanging foundations" of modern Christianity. Crystal Downing is Co-Director of the Marion E. Wade Center and co-holder of the Marion E. Wade Chair in Christian Thought at Wheaton College: a position she shares with her husband, David C. Downing. You can read more about her here: https://www.wheaton.edu//wade/about/staff/crystal-downing/. Click this link for more details about the book and see the starred review it received in Publisher's Weekly. https://www.publishersweekly.com/978-1-5064-6275-2. The book is to be released on November 1st. Looking forward to seeing you all on the 21st. at 5 PM. Email [email protected] for your link.

Our old summer meeting site, the monastery, St Andrew's Abbey, in Valyermo, California, has been miraculously spared from a wildfire. https://www.osvnews.com//monastery-in-california-escapes/
