Join us tonight at 4pm (and every Wednesday) to make calls to pass the PRO Act and secure $350 billion for our state and local governments! LINK BELOW. We need Congress to take bold action to expand unions and invest in our public services so we can build a strong economic recovery for everyone. Zoom link: https://zoom.us/j/94213541254

People over profits! Tonight the San Jose City Council voted 7-3 to implement hazard pay for local grocery workers. Thank you to Councilman Sergio Jimenez for his leadership on behalf of working people. Sam Liccardo, Dev Davis, and Matt Mahan voted no.

Tonight was a victory for working families in America. Union members led the way to save our democracy by organizing and getting out the vote. We fight for dignity, fair wages, and equality for all. Now we must be vigilant in our work to advance people over profits and ensure that every vote counts. #unionpower

We are mourning the loss of a longtime member of our movement and our family. On Tuesday night, Janice Ferris passed away. Janice was the finance and HR director at Working Partnerships USA for many years. Janice also worked at the Labor Council and will be greatly missed. Please see the message below from the Working Partnerships team and a link to support her family: While she may not have always been on the front lines of our actions and organizing, her dedication powered ...our work behind the scenes. When we needed to hire 50 phonebankers in a week, owed her vital paperwork, or had any number of odd requests, she would first chastise us and then make it happen. We will miss her dog Mia running around our office looking for dropped crumbs, and dearly miss Janice’s presence in our lives and our community. We are heartbroken but so grateful to have known this amazing mother, nana, lover of all things pop culture, finance whiz and simply good, loving person. Janice gave of herself for this movement because she believed in people, believed in all of us. Her family has put together a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses. If you can't give, the family asks "say a prayer, put on an MJ record and dance, or tune in Sunday for the Niner game and cheer along with her."

Racism has no place in San Jose. Yesterday Dev Davis returned the SVO money she received and condemned support from racist organizations. Councilmember Lan Diep, why won’t you do the right thing and condemn the SVO? #whoownsdiep? Send a tweet to Lan so he hears from the community! @sanjosed4 @thesvo
